Snowflake

On Saturday my mom and I drove up to Snowflake. We went for Mother's day, because it's where my mother grew up and where my mother's mother is buried. I love Snowflake and I really feel connected to it because so much of my family history is tied to that place. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was one of the founders of the town. Here is his name and he is the one standing next to the wheel-cart in the sculpture.
We visited my great-aunt Maryland and I got to know her better. She's a sweet woman and I loved her stories. We also visited the grave sites of my mother's parents. My mother loves to visit because sometimes she misses them.
We visited a few shops in town and ate at this soup-&-sandwich place. It was super yummy. I had roast-beef and tomato basil soup....mmmmm. It was great visiting and driving and hanging out with my mom! She is awesome!

xxxCROSSxxxxSTITCHINGxxxxxxxx

With no school, I have a lot of time on my hands and what better way to spend that time than doing crafts? So Faith and Holly cross stitch. Holly got Ashlee and I to start cross stitching. We started with something simple. It's a Christmas ornament, but I turned it into a magnet. I haven't cross stitched since I was 8 and I couldn't remember anything about how to do it.  Holly and Faith are watching over us as we learn and we watch Jane Austen while we stitch. I can't wait to start the next project!

1st Quilt

My mother is a quilter. I have so many memories of her quilting and all the girls hanging out in her quilt room chatting and having a good time. All my sisters have made quilts.  I finally caught up and made my first quilt.
So I have been making this quilt for a long time. I started it before nursing school and then nursing school happened. I am now graduated and I finished it! I did a simple pattern using strips of 1930s inspired fabric and then added sashing around the sections. It was a fairly easy quilt, which is good cause it's my first. This is my mom's long arm quilting machine that does the work for you.  Click here for her quilt blog! It quilts whatever pattern you want. Just load the pattern on the computer and click start! The quilts come out looking professionally made. I did the Young Womens logo as my pattern.
The end product was wonderful and cozy!! It feels victorious when you finish a project! Can't wait to do more! Plus, I love learning from my mother. She is the most creative woman I know and I love that she helps me develop my own creativity. She's the best!
I love you mom! And Happy Mother's Day!

Metro Grad

So I rode the light rail for the last time (school related at least!) to get downtown for graduation! I went in my outfit, but I was not the only one! Most of them got off at Tempe. It was an adventure. Everyone was staring at me, but some people congratulated me and were very nice! Many were so pleased that such a nice looking nurse was graduating. :) I am nice looking!

I will miss my light rail! I hope to ride it every once in a while to go to events and to party! I will miss my metro people and all the silly things they do and wear!

Graduation Festivities!

Commencement was awesome! I got to hang with some of my favorite classmates and listen to Tom Brokaw speak and make fun of U of A! :) I loved cheering with and for my college, the smallest one. And we had fireworks, which I love. It was very exciting and made me excited to graduate!!!

SIX FLAGS!!!!!

To celebrate my graduation, I went to Six Flags with my sister, Marg, and my friend, Jessica! Oh, boy, did we have a good time! It was overcast, perfect weather! And there was like no one there. The lines were almost nonexistent! Our longest wait was for X2 and it was like 25 minutes.

H is for Hilaree!! We went on Goliath like 6 times!! And got some good pictures on it!
I'M BATMAN!!! We also rode Batman like 6 times! It was awesome and I got a Batman ring!
There is a new ride at six flags! The Green Lantern! At first it doesn't look like much, but it was AWESOME!!! Each time you ride it, you have a different experience! We went on it twice!!!
We did a lot of driving for all this fun and it was worth staying up 24 hours! So much fun!!
