Mushy Metro

Confession. My metro riding days are beginning to dwindle. I won't be riding it much for the rest of the semester and then I will be done! But I hope to do my best till the end of the semester. So, February is the month of love and that was seen way too much on the light rail. People need to learn where and what kind of PDA is appropriate and public transportation is not the place for most kinds of PDA. It is cute when older couples are going on a day activity to downtown and they hold hands on the way to and from Phoenix, but those love sick teenagers mackin in the back of the train (or in the middle of the train) need to be told that's disgusting. On V-day I wasn't so stealthy, so no pictures but there was a lot of red and hearts and oversized stuffed bears and roses and cheap chocolates to remind anyone that it was Love-Day. Love was on the lightrail.
Next Metros will have pictures I hope.

Studying on the Metro

It takes me 1 hour to get school on the metro. That's about 2 hours of commuting everyday I have to go to get downtown. Luckily, I don't have to pay attention to traffic, so I can use this time to do schoolwork. I'm going to school to be a nurse...I study gross things sometimes and I usually have pictures to help my learning. Then sometimes people sit next to me and they see what I am studying and they see the pictures. Some ask if I am becoming a doctor, but the majority of the people make a gross face and try to sneak away to another seat. Sure way to keep people from sitting next to you, gross anatomy pictures!
(I had a gross picture, but I don't think very many people would have appreciated that so I put this one. I'm writing a paper about COPD!)

Metro Moments

Welcome October!
Another week has begun. I almost fell asleep on the metro, which you shouldn't do. I did it this morning. I didn't get much sleep this weekend and was pretty tired. I was only asleep for a minute but it was a scary minute.I was afraid I would miss my stop.
The stop I have to get on at from school to go home is like two blocks away from my school. I'm always hoping to make it in time, but I can't see the train till I turn the last corner. It's super annoying when I miss it by a few seconds. I have to wait for like 10 minutes for the next train. Lame.
I love it when people sit across from you and face you, but they won't make eye contact. It's funny watching them avoid looking at you. Makes for another awkward moment on the metro.
I'm still keeping my eyes open for crazy metro fashion. Here is this week's photo! Love the hat!

Metro Monday on Tuesday

Busy day yesterday so Metro Monday was pushed to a Tuesday. Interesting and awkward moments happen on the train everyday, especially during the busy times. When the train gets packed and people are constantly shuffling on and off. I usually get a seat because a lot of people get off when I get on, so I can observe the human behavior a lot better. When the shuffling is happening awkward things happen. Everybody is trying to move out of the way with two goals. Don't get touched and move as little as possible. It makes me giggle to watch them squirm and cringe when someone brushes by them. Oh metro people...they make me smile.
Also, when you are on the train, people will stare at you. Sometimes just normal glances or in creepy ways. It will make you uncomfortable and I learned that the best way to deal with it is to make them more uncomfortable. I stare back. Usually more intensely then they do and then they usually stop looking at me or go to the other end of the train. Works like a charm. Of course, you have to know who it is you are dealing with or they might just start laughing and then talk to you...that could be a problem. Still learning how to deal with that. I'll keep you updated.
Sometimes I talk back or I put my ear phones in before its too late. All depends.
Phone photo. Light-rail warning. Don't cross the tracks...
