The Andrea Bocelli Adventure

So the weekend of 12/7/13 started very snowy. Margaret and I headed out on our annual pilgrimage to a concert in Vegas, but it was a treacherous journey. We questioned our safety a few times, but we got through for Andrea!

We decided to stay the night in Vegas to avoid more dangerous driving situations. We stayed at The Rio and were upgraded to a VIP suite for free. This was because the guy checking us in thought two beautiful women deserved it...and they had lots of rooms available.
The concert was at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!!!!! That man is amazing. The first half of the concert he performed a lot of opera. He performed with Svelta Vassileva,  a soprano. They were amazing. I wish I could do something that cool. I was loving the opera, but I was getting anxious for some of his more popular stuff and some christmas music. I love christmas!

The moment that truly made the concert for me came next. Mr. Bocelli came out holding a flute and began to sing Ave Maria...best moment ever! He played the flute as well, which is awesome because the man is blind! It was so beautiful, I was on the verge of tears (which is saying something for me). He followed with Adeste Fideles (Oh Come All Ye faithful). Also awe inspiring!

After these two songs, the great Heather Headley came unto the stage! At first I didn't recognize the song, but it turned out to be the best version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that I have ever heard. Her voice was incredible. I found out later that she is the original Nala from the broadway Lion King, one of my favorites! (picture courtesy of andreabocelli.com)

Next was Andrea singing "I Found My Love in Portifino" AWESOME! He then sang "When I Fall In Love" with Heather...very romantic and they were so good together! Then "Canto Della Terra" together! This is a beautiful song, I suggest looking it up on YouTube! They made it seem like this was the last song, but when Andrea got to the edge of the stage with the crowd going wild, he talked to the conductor and walked back on stage for an encore! He said "Because we are Vegas" and sang "Love Me Tender." Once again we thought this was the end and the crowds stood and went wild. And again Andrea walked to the edge of the stage and talked to the conductor. He did this to us an additional 2 times. He sang "New York, New York," "Time to Say Goodbye" (much to Margaret's happiness! This was the one song she wanted!), and he finished with "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot, an opera! Once he finished the last song, the audience in complete unison stood clapping and shouting!!! Seriously the best concert and one of the best performers. I loved it so much that for Christmas I sent my parents to the show in Phoenix the next night! They loved it!
So after the show, Marg and I feeling fancy took a taxi back to our hotel,
got hot chocolate and went to bed. We headed out the next day fully intended on getting back to Provo. The I-15 was closed due to the weather and the officials said it wouldn't be opened for 6-8 hours. We decided it would be worth it to just go home to AZ! My parents were super excited. I surprised my BFF Faith by making her believe we were going to skype then showing up on her doorstep! I'm an awesome friend :) It was nice to have a few days visiting friends and family! I miss my Harley guy! He's a real cool guy!
Marg and I then headed back home to Provo. It was a nice way to get over the weather! I miss warm sunny AZ and the people that live there! The concert was awesome and I can't wait to see who we choose next year to see! Good times!

Pinterest Fashion!

Peplum style coming back from the old days!
So I pin a lot on my style board and it's probably my favorite. I've pinned a few outfits that have one focus and that is the peplum.
Here are the photos from my board that inspired my outfit that I wore to church today. I bought the shirt on clearance from Charlotte Russe when I was shopping with my BFF Faith. It was a happy buy. When I left for church my mom said I look very 40s inspired.
Mission accomplished!

xxxCROSSxxxxSTITCHINGxxxxxxxx

With no school, I have a lot of time on my hands and what better way to spend that time than doing crafts? So Faith and Holly cross stitch. Holly got Ashlee and I to start cross stitching. We started with something simple. It's a Christmas ornament, but I turned it into a magnet. I haven't cross stitched since I was 8 and I couldn't remember anything about how to do it.  Holly and Faith are watching over us as we learn and we watch Jane Austen while we stitch. I can't wait to start the next project!

Happy Birthday, Faith!!

Yesterday was my BFF Faith's birthday, but the festivities actually began the day before. We have been planning this eventful evening for a month and it was finally here! We first began by treating our self to some delicious Indian food! We had the dinner buffet at India Oven and it was delicious!
Next we went to Cinemark to wait in line for 4 hours to watch the much anticipated "Hunger Games!"
Here we are in line! We just hung out and talked and saw old friends and played card games. It wasn't too bad of a wait. We made friends with some of the people waiting with us.
Finally, We got in and Faith and I got great seats! Both of us weren't feeling too good (that wasn't going to stop us) so we got some munchies to keep us comfortable!
Finally the movie began! It was AWESOME! When a movie is based off a book, it ends up being picked apart. It's hard to live up to the imagination of the readers. In my case I think the movie did real well. It was very much like I imagined. It was also very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat! It's worth seeing whether you read the book or not! (Read the book!) :)
It was a fun night. I'm not a fan of midnight showings, but i enjoyed being with Faith. I'll get over my sleep deprivation eventually! Happy Birthday Faith!!!
Oh and Happy Birthday to my wonderful Father. His Birthday was this week as well, but we are celebrating it next week when the whole family can get together!

Nurse Life

STUDY, STUDY, STUDY=Nursing school and my life!
Update about the awesome things I do in school! OB was awesome with all the babies! :) I love being a nurse. I've saw a few deliveries and I've played with a few babies, which were so cute. I saw a C-section, which was the coolest thing I saw, but assisting in a delivery was the coolest thing I did.
This is my awesome group this semester on our birthing balls discussing the stages of labor!
We mess around with some of the equipment at school. It's so we are familiar with it! Here's my friend, Karissa vacuuming my face like a doctor would a baby out of the birth canal.
I am now in Pediatrics. I started yesterday with orientation. I'm excited to work with kids! I'm pretty sure pediatrics is what I want to do, so I am very nervous and excited for this rotation. We will see how it goes. Today I had skills all day. Went to school and practiced nursing skills for a long time. I was very tired afterwards. (Didn't stop me from partying on my Friday night though.)
This is Laura! One of my BFFs from nursing school. She's super smart and a great student and she's funny and we get along real well and she wanted to be featured in my blog. Here you go Laura! :) (She's also a youngster! Only 20!!!)
Yay for Nurses! This is my first group (a year ago) and they are all some of my closest and coolest friends!
I love nursing school! Can't wait to graduate May 3rd, but I do love nursing school. So fun!

Getting Skinny!

We are running now! Faith and I are running now to get into shape! We want to run in the Trukey Trot on Thanksgiving! It's a 10K (6.2 miles) and we want to do it under 1:10:00. Crazy!! That's about 12 minute miles. I think we can do it. Plus I have a goal to lose 10 lbs by Halloween, so we are going to run and do P90X like crazy! I think we will be able to do it and I actually like to run now! :) Makes me feel great!

Westwood's 50th and Pine's Apples

Westwood High School (my alma mater) celebrated it's 50th anniversary as a school and there was a party! I went and partied at the parade, alumni party, and the football game! I went with Faith, my BFF of 6 years. We became BFFs Sophmore year right when we began high school!
At the football game with Lewis! Go Warriors!
We haven't changed too much since high school! :) Still silly!
The Homecoming parade was awesome! They had a float for every decade of Weswood's existence! This is my decade! 2000-2011 It's a warrior headdress! Totally cool!
This is my other favorite because of who's on it!
This was the Seniors float and I thought it was awesome! I remembered that I am a Senior too (in college!) and so I felt special about graduating in 2012 too!

Today, I went to Pine! Pine is a cute little town that has festivals every once in a while. Ashlee and I went to one in May and decided to go back again and we brought Holly with us this time! It was the Fall Apple Festival. We shopped and I ate a carmel apple, while Ashlee and Holly had their frozen chocolate covered bananas.
Ashlee and I bought charm bracelets! (mine is on the left)
It's been a fun weekend!
P.S. Ovarf? Tribute to my random sister, Margi who is random at times! Check out her awesome and hilarious blog!
