I'm back, but in Utah.

SO it's been a long time.
I'm in Utah now. Living the high life...sort of. Why did I move? It felt right and my sister Margaret lives here. It's been 3 years since we were roomies.
What did  I do this summer? Worked hard to save money to move to Utah. My siblings that live out East came and visited for a few weeks. It was awesome. Margaret and I tried very hard to be the favorite aunts (we succeeded) and we all know that the way into the hearts of small children is roller-coasters and goodies! We did it all!

After a fun-filled summer I quit my job and moved to UT. That was back in August. I searched diligently for a job and found one that I was fortunate to get! I now work at Central Utah Veterans Home! A long-term care facility for our veteran heroes. I love this job! I love my veterans. It's an awesome job. I don't have very many awesome medical stories, but I do get small memories that help me to realize what's important. My veterans are at the end of life and they impart wisdom (whether they realize it or not) on a young inexperienced nurse. For example, this place proves the importance of family and those relationships. Also, the smallest act of kindness NEVER goes unappreciated. My veterans thank me for the service I do for them, but what they don't realize is how deeply grateful I am for their service and sacrifice. It's a wonderful job and if that's the only reason I was suppose to move, then it was all worth it.

So I hope to be motivated again in my blogging. I took a break, but I'm back with more adventures to report on!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Yay for fall!

Sleep patterns

Ugh. Night shifts are going to ruin me.
After 3 shifts in a row, I always have one of these sleep patterns:
1. I take a short nap after my shift, go to bed at night, and I adjust to a semi-normal sleep cycle. This is most common, thankfully.
2. When I take my nap, I end up sleeping longer than I wanted and stay up half the night even though I am exhausted. For example, I am writing this at 4am after 3 night shifts because I overslept during my nap. ("my nap!" I sound like a child)
3. I get the nap and fall asleep at a normal hour, but then I wake up somewhere between 2 and 4 am suffering from hunger pains. This is because during my shifts that is the time when I normally get a break and eat.
It's easier for my sleep to adjust just after 1 or 2 shifts, but 3 makes it extra hard. I love night shifts but they do terror on my sleeping and social life. I think all my friends assume I'm always working or sleeping (sorta true). I usually look like death when I am awake and I act weirder than normal. I don't want to complain too much but I am pretty sure my body hates me.
But I got to tough it out. I need the experience and I am blessed to have such a great job.

New Job!!!

I got a job at Arizona Spine and Joint Hospital! It's not a very big hospital, but it's a great place for a brand new nurse to learn. I started yesterday with a class they offer to their patients about total joint replacement. I start the nursing part tonight. I'll be doing night shift at the beginning, but they will still train me for day shift. I want to do mostly nights, but I'll do whatever is available. I feel like such a career woman now! I'm working out in the real world! :) I'm really excited about this job and I can't wait to start being a nurse!!
The problem with getting a job is that now I have money coming. I prematurely went shopping. Sunglasses are my 2nd favorite accessory after shoes. I bought 2 pairs of sunglasses and 2 cases. I couldn't help myself.
More exciting news!!! I became an aunt for the 12th time yesterday! My sister Jessica had her 5th child! Congrats you guys! Her name is Anthea and she is so cute!!!
