Sleep patterns

Ugh. Night shifts are going to ruin me.
After 3 shifts in a row, I always have one of these sleep patterns:
1. I take a short nap after my shift, go to bed at night, and I adjust to a semi-normal sleep cycle. This is most common, thankfully.
2. When I take my nap, I end up sleeping longer than I wanted and stay up half the night even though I am exhausted. For example, I am writing this at 4am after 3 night shifts because I overslept during my nap. ("my nap!" I sound like a child)
3. I get the nap and fall asleep at a normal hour, but then I wake up somewhere between 2 and 4 am suffering from hunger pains. This is because during my shifts that is the time when I normally get a break and eat.
It's easier for my sleep to adjust just after 1 or 2 shifts, but 3 makes it extra hard. I love night shifts but they do terror on my sleeping and social life. I think all my friends assume I'm always working or sleeping (sorta true). I usually look like death when I am awake and I act weirder than normal. I don't want to complain too much but I am pretty sure my body hates me.
But I got to tough it out. I need the experience and I am blessed to have such a great job.

Sleeping Metro

It was dark the entire ride. The sun was barely coming up when I got to my stop in Phoenix! One of the best sites of the light rail is the bridge over Tempe Town Lake! I wish I took this picture but my phone is not that cool. But I promise it did look this cool at 7:00 am! Half of the passengers were sleeping and I was about too as well. The worst is when the train is packed and the person next to you is sleeping and keeps leaning on you. It's even worse when they smell! Well, this is life on the metro way super early in the killer morning! I don't like to wake up early...but it can be pretty.

Metro Moments

Welcome October!
Another week has begun. I almost fell asleep on the metro, which you shouldn't do. I did it this morning. I didn't get much sleep this weekend and was pretty tired. I was only asleep for a minute but it was a scary minute.I was afraid I would miss my stop.
The stop I have to get on at from school to go home is like two blocks away from my school. I'm always hoping to make it in time, but I can't see the train till I turn the last corner. It's super annoying when I miss it by a few seconds. I have to wait for like 10 minutes for the next train. Lame.
I love it when people sit across from you and face you, but they won't make eye contact. It's funny watching them avoid looking at you. Makes for another awkward moment on the metro.
I'm still keeping my eyes open for crazy metro fashion. Here is this week's photo! Love the hat!
