Metro Madness & Red Hats!

It's Monday! Metro Monday! To review...I ride the metro so Mondays I discuss these adventures!
Let's get started...
Many different kinds of people ride the metro. Students, bums, business people, laborers, religious fanatics, and women in red hats. So many people shuffling in and out of the train! It's unlikely that a story won't come up.
I am usually doing homework or reading on the light rail, but some days I like to just sit and observe. While observing one day, a group of older women came aboard the train. They were all wearing red hats and purple clothes. A few wear Mardi Gras beads, some have huge diamond rings on and all have red functional footwear! Let me introduce you to the Ladies Red Hat Society.
I love seeing all these women riding the light rail. They gab and gab and gab and what they gab about is very entertaining. I have to confess that I eavesdrop on the light rail, but everything I post is appropriate and isn't personal. So no worries.
Back to the Red Hats...they sure do find my generation troublesome. They find us a bit selfish and lazy, yet when they see the ASU students coming on and off the light rail, they boast in the great way that they are leading our generation. Old people make me happy! :) The fashion that these women make just increase my appreciation for the wise! :)

Metro Monday!

So, I am an avid Valley Metro light-rail rider and I always have good stories from my adventures on the train. I decided to dedicate my Mondays to honor those adventures. I'm going to try to keep it up, but if the light-rail is boring that week...no promises. These last few couple days, no specific adventures occurred. I just noticed some common patterns of behavior.
My favorite behavior is what I call the "Awkward Seat Exchange." The light-rail can get a bit busy and people have to sit next to each other (closer than they want to). Sometimes seats open up and people silently move away from the person they are sitting by in order to occupy the free seat. This transition usually is accompanied by awkward glances between the passengers, and slow shifty movements. It's as if the person is trying to do it in q way that doesn't offend the person they were sitting by. "You don't stink! I just have personal space issues." I enjoy watching it! And the person that doesn't move just blows it off with a grateful sigh! The light-rail is enjoyable and better stories are to come. Join me on Mondays for Metro-Madness!

School is here! And Family as well!

School has begun. I've only been to a few classes. Next week is when the crazy all begins! What I have experience so far has made me excited for becoming a nurse! This semester is OB, Pediatrics, and Public health. All seem very interesting to me!
So I haven't had too many classes this week, but I did have a lot of family time! Today, my family and I had a BBQ and swim party! It was so much fun! My sister took pictures and I'll post the link when she puts the pictures on her blog! I love my nieces and nephews and I had so much fun swimming and playing with them. I did get a bit sunburned, but it was worth it. We had hotdogs and hamburgers. I had to control myself because of the diet, but I love homemade hamburgers! I had one and some potato salad and watermelon...SO YUMMMY!! It's still feels like summer.
Today was great, except for one part and that was when Margi had to leave for Utah to go back to school. Silly girl! I helped her pack and dot said her goodbyes. We video chat and she's going to blog while she's up there. Thanks to technology, this separation won't be as painful! :) Have fun in Utah Margu!

School is near...

I can always tell when school is about to begin. It's true that everybody knows when school starts but I get strange symptoms as the school year approaches. One of the first symptoms that I get is "Christmas Fever." Right around the time that school is suppose to start, I began to think of the holidays. I listen to christmas songs, crave peppermint, and practice carols on the piano. I am already looking forward to the Christmas break! :) Another symptom is school nightmare syndrome. Those usually don't come till right before school starts (school starts tomorrow). I had one already. Last night I dreamt that I wasn't completely ready for the school year and I wasn't able to go to my clinicals and my teachers were mad at me. It was terrible! I know I'll be fine but I think the stress is already getting to me. I am usually more stressed as the school year approaches. I'm especially stressed for this year. I'm a senior! Which is awesome, but intimidating at the same time...I have to start growing up soon. Get a job...Make money :) It's all good though and I'll try to enjoy this school year as best as I can. I will definitely blog about my adventures at school and all that goes with that! School starts tomorrow, which means my adventures start tomorrow! Go class of 2012!
P.S. Like the new look for my blog?

Workout! Fitness! Health!

It's time to get into shape! My BFF Faith and I are dieting and exercising! We are doing a 1500 calorie limit and exercise daily. Both of us don't like to go outside to workout. We like the idea of staying home and working out. This means workout videos and I have a few of those! We are doing Turbo Jam for the month of August (or what's left of it) and then September is Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! I have done both of these and I love them both! So far Faith and I have had a good time doing Turbo Jam and have been a little sore from the workouts. No pain no game, right? These are just to prepare us for P90X in October!I have done P90X once already and I loved it! My favorite workouts are Yoga and Kenpo, anything the cardio. The strength workouts are awesome as well, but I'm not the biggest fan of chin-ups. We really want to get in shape! We aren't super concerned about weight. We are mostly concerned with feeling good and being healthy. We are both trying to eat healthy and watching out for those sweets. I have a major sweet tooth so it's a bit hard! Wish us luck!

Visitors from the East!

My sister Jessica and her husband and kids came to Arizona. Her father-in-law passed away and they came for the funeral and to be with family. They are currently staying with us and it has been wonderful to see them again, even though it hasn't been very long. Margaret and I have had so much fun playing and babysitting our niece and nephews. There are such cute kids! The other night we made cookies with them and their cousins from their dad's side. Our kitchen was a mess and I am so sad that I forgot to take pictures. They had awesome cookies. They will be here for awhile longer and I promise to post some pictures! Oh, and today is Tac's birthday! He is four and a cool kid! :)

Random Story From the Life of Hilaree aka RSFTLOH

I was just remembering and reflecting my long life and a story came to my mind! It's RSFTLOH time!
Once upon a time...
in a classroom far far away by the freeway. Students were reading and writing and mathing and learning many great things. In the corner, four girls (Hilaree, Jenny, Krystal, and Margaret!) were rebelling, ignoring their studies, and learning a game that would change their lives forever! This game takes great skills of quick thinking, speedy reflexes, and immense endurance! The game is called SPAZ! All that is required is a set of UNO cards, more than two people, and a fighting attitude!
This game is so much fun, it hurts. :) It has gone many places. To Girls Camp, family reunions, and game nights through high school! And it all started in Mrs. Wong's class many years ago!

How to Play!
Divide all the cards among the players. No peeking.
In a clockwise order take turns discarding one card facing up.
When two cards of one color are placed on each other, everyone does the color's action and whoever is the slowest to do the action takes all the cards from the discard pile!
Goal: Get rid of all your cards!
If a wild is discarded, everyone does all the actions. Slowest takes the cards!
Actions:
Double Green: Slap the ground or table in front of you! (hint to remember: green grass)
Double Red: Slap your chest! (hint: red heart)
Double Yellow: Slap your forehead! (hint: yellow fever)
Double Blue: Reach for the sky! (hint: blue sky)
Wild: All actions, Green, Red, Yellow, then Blue. Look out for your nose on the way up!

This game has brought a lot of joy to my life! I love it!

Classroom Decor!

I've been helping my dad decorate his classroom for the upcoming school year. It's a tradition that his daughters decorate his room every year. My older sisters did it before me and when they got older, Margi and I started doing it. I asked my dad what he is going to do when Margi and I get married and move away and he said he would probably retire! :) My dad teaches religion. He's known as a Seminary teacher and he teaches high school kids. This year the kids are studying the Old Testament! So there is a lot about the Creation and the prophets such as Moses, Noah, and Abraham. Margi and I had a lot of fun decorating and the last day Faith (my BFF) and her son, Lewis came and she helped us finish! I think it looks awesome!
Also, I was so focused on decorating my dad's classroom that I was surfing the web looking for ideas and I came across a few photos of just neat classrooms. I love the "old school" (haha pun!) look for classes. This one is my fave!
This is a traveling futuristic class. Neat, right?
And I loved this one too!

Just because!! HP7p2

I just wanted to share this since I've seen the last Harry Potter movie. I made this with Ashlee for Girls Camp 2011! We had fun working with the Dales, Sabrina, and Garrett. I did use some of the real shots from the original trailer to add pizzazz. (The original trailer is awesome!) I think our Harry Potter and Voldemort were better and our Ron and Hermoine were funnier! I had a lot of fun making this and thought I would share.

BFFiversary! 6 Years!

Yesterday, my BFF Faith and I celebrated our 6th BFFiversary! We celebrated by treating ourselves to delisous food at the Cheesecake Factory! I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon with mushrooms, spinach, and angel hair pasta! SOOOO YUMMMY!!! Faith and I decided that we deserved to treat ourselves to a good meal, so we ordered appetizers. We had the Avocado Egg rolls that were delicious. So good! We thought it would be fun if we got all dressed up and fancy! We ended up color coordinating! True BFFs!! :) We, of course, ordered cheesecake, but we ordered it to go because we had a movie to get to! We went and saw the Harry Potter movie! We went with my little sister, and friends, Ashlee and Holly. I thought this was one of the better Harry Potter movies. I am not the biggest fan of the 7th book, but I thought the movie was done well. The best part of it was the parts about Snape. I don't want to give it away, but if you have read it or seen the movie, I hope you agree with me! Alan Rickman is also one of my favorite actors ever since I saw him in Galaxy Quest (hilarious) and Sense and Sensibility (wonderful)! I think he was great as Snape and was the BEST part of the movie. Out of 5 I give the movie a 4 (thanks to Snape!) Faith and I had fun on our "date" and I can't believe that we have been best friends for so long! Yay for friends!!!
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANI!!!
